1. Information We Collect

Current Collection (MVP):

• None. The current version of Katabasis does not collect or store personal information.
• Basic server logs (IP addresses, timestamps) for security and performance monitoring - these are automatically deleted after 30 days

Future Collection (when community launches):

• Anonymous accounts: Username (no email required)
• Posts and comments: Content you create in the community
• Optional email: Only if you choose to be notified of community launch

We will NEVER require: Real names, addresses, phone numbers, or identifying information for peer support.

2. How We Use Information

• Provide the platform and its features
• Ensure security and prevent abuse
• Improve the platform based on usage patterns
• Comply with legal obligations (see Mandatory Reporting below)

We do NOT:

• Sell your data
• Share with advertisers
• Use for marketing
• Track you across other websites

3. Anonymity

Peer support is designed to be anonymous:

• Choose any username - no verification required
• No email required for community participation
• Posts are not linked to identifying information

Note: While we protect anonymity, we cannot guarantee complete anonymity if you choose to share identifying details in your posts.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies:

• Essential cookies: Required for the platform to function (login session, preferences)
• Analytics: We may use privacy-friendly analytics (like Plausible) that don't track individuals

We do NOT use: Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other invasive tracking tools.

5. Data Storage

• Data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption
• Hosted on secure cloud infrastructure (Vercel, Supabase)
• Server logs are automatically deleted after 30 days
• User content is retained until you delete it or request account deletion

6. Mandatory Reporting

Important: If we become aware of imminent threats of violence or self-harm, we may be required to report this to appropriate authorities.

This is to protect safety and may be required by law.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data
• Delete your account and data
• Export your posts (when community launches)
• Opt out of optional email communications

8. Third-Party Services

We use:

• Vercel: Hosting (see Vercel Privacy Policy)
• Supabase: Database (when community launches, see Supabase Privacy Policy)

We only use services that respect user privacy.

9. Children's Privacy

Katabasis is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

10. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this policy. Major changes will be announced on the platform.

We will never reduce privacy protections without giving you the option to delete your account first.
